Intensive Therapy Clients

Welcome, I’m so glad you’re here.

  • Are you introspective, but you feel stuck?

  • Have you done talk therapy, read the books, even talked to ChatGPT, and maybe tried EMDR or IFS in the past, but your feelings and body haven’t shifted?

  • Are you exhausted and frustrated, but not sure how to do things differently?

  • Do you crave healing but fear wasting time or not being able to “get there”?

  • Are you grieving a recent loss or relationship or something unseen from the past – childhood needs or abuse, parental or spousal loss, betrayal, pregnancy/infant loss, relational neglect, spiritual abuse?

  • Do you desire more authenticity and to feel present in your life– without micromanaging your feelings or others, or being pulled back into the past?

  • Do you want to work with a therapist who can guide you in a process and who will be flexible and attuned to your unique needs and experiences?

If you answered YES to any of these questions, we might be a great fit.

More about Morgan

I’m Morgan Levine, and I help people heal from generational, childhood, cultural, and recent event trauma using EMDR, IFS-Informed EMDR, attachment, spiritual exploration, and somatic regulation.

I was called to this work to help people have more expansive lives and heal from the effects of growing up in dysfunctional families with generational trauma and living in broken, oppressive systems.

Over 20 years ago, I began talk therapy as the client, which was helpful to some extent; however, I realized over time that the primary focus of talk therapy was on my thoughts. Over-intellectualizing was a frequently overused strength of mine, as you might relate to; many of us raised or acculturated in a Western culture rely heavily on thinking, because the Western culture has historically valued reasoning-based therapies and remedies.

In my talk therapy era, a beloved therapist once told me, “You think your way out of feeling," which puzzled me at the time and felt like a condemnation. What did that even mean? Was there another way? No one ever taught or showed me differently.

If you are like me, then you also likely weren’t taught or modeled how to tolerate and regulate emotions as you grew up. It is common in our culture, and the culture of past generations of parents, that children were told to “stop crying, or else I’ll give you something to cry about,” or perhaps alternatively children are given something to distract from feeling, which ultimately teaches that feeling isn’t okay or safe.

We rarely see healthy emotional or relational modeling - It makes sense that many of us are afraid of our feelings or stuck in a cycle of avoidance!

Nearly 10 years after I entered talk therapy, I discovered therapists and spaces that transformed my life and relationships through EMDR, IFS, Polyvagal Theory, and principles of relational recovery. To put it plainly, I recognize this path isn’t easy; it can be a winding journey! Also, who enjoys drawing attention to pain and feeling all their feelings deeply?!

Intensives with me include a guided process for somatic and spiritual healing, inviting you into something deeper - into the wisdom of your body and the great mysteries of your inner worlds, ultimately leading to greater clarity, compassion, and connection.

One day, after some time in my own IFS-informed EMDR therapy and recovery journey, I noticed that the critical voice in my head and the anxiety pangs in my chest had significantly shifted. My relationship with myself and others began to improve.

I learned the power of trusting my body to digest what I cognitively could not, and I have seen the same be true for my clients.

My Identities

Because I use the therapeutic relationship to help my clients heal, whether you are an intensive client, a consultee, or a business coaching client, I acknowledge what I bring to the space between us and what I don’t. I am a white, cisgender, queer, lesbian who is momentarily able-bodied, neurodivergent (highly sensitive/ADHD), and someone who has healed, and continues to heal, from trauma, generationally dysfunctional family, and oppressive systems. I also have lived experience with 12-step recovery. I encourage you to discuss your identities with me openly as they are important to your lived experience, and welcome you to discuss my identities and their impact on our relationship in therapy when that feels helpful.

My Education and Training

I received my Undergraduate degree in Psychology from Temple University and my Master’s of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to many peers who have supported my learning and growth over the years, I have been honored to be mentored and trained by Maya Kollman, Gail Guttman, Gwen Pearl, Mark Nickerson, Elizabeth Venart, Michelle Richardson, and Crystal Whitlow. My work has also been influenced by (in no particular order) Francine Shapiro, Toni Herbine-Blanks, Deb Dana, Jaime Marich, Jennifer Mullan, Stan Tatkin, Terry Real, Pete Walker, Karla McLaren, Francis Weller, Irvin D. Yalom, Richard Schwartz, Bruce Hersey, Dawn of Mother Heart Yoga, and many others. But by far, my greatest experiential teachers have been my clients.
